Cumberland Farms is a chain of convenience stores operating primarily in New England, New York and Florida. CMC Design-Build provided planning, design, and construction services for a 45,000 SF commissary, a 55,000 SF cold storage expansion, and an 80,000 SF corporate office, all located in Westborugh, MA.

The commissary was designed to prepare and assemble frozen pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and parfaits and includes cooking capabilities for proteins and vegetables. The design of the facility included complete segregation of high care and low risk activities, utilities, and support systems.

The cold storage expansion included the installation of a new central ammonia system that supplied refrigeration to the existing building as well as the new addition. CMC managed the National Grid Large Business Incentive submission for Cumberland Farms and received a rebate of nearly $1 million for the energy saving measures incorporated into the project.
